Volcanoes
The Volcanoes Natural Park extends within the municipality of Tinajo and Tias, in the southwest of Lanzarote. All the area is linked to the eighteenth century eruptions that devastated more than a quarter of the island during the six years of volcanic activity. A desolate landscape that keeps great secrets and captivates you with its peculiar beauty
Caldera Blanca: Hiking across lava and the memories of Timanfaya
Walking through Caldera Blanca means stepping into the living history of Lanzarote.
This circular, medium-difficulty route takes us through the story of the Timanfaya eruptions—not just as a natural phenomenon, but as a deeply human experience: how the islanders lived through it, what they felt, and how they rebuilt their lives among the ashes.
The landscape is as overwhelming as it is beautiful: solidified lava, fields of ash, silence… and, from the summit, spectacular views of the crater.
We’ll reach an altitude of 468 metres, with an elevation gain of 250 metres, and walk around the rim of a crater 1.2 km in diameter and around 200 metres deep.
This is a powerful, transformative hike—not recommended for people with vertigo—that connects you to the fiery heart of the island.

HIKING AMONG VOLCANOES IN THE VOLCANOES NATURAL PARK IN LANZAROTE
Are you looking for a hiking route in Lanzarote that connects you with the island’s volcanic essence?
This guided experience takes you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Volcanoes Natural Park, one of Lanzarote’s most extraordinary areas. We walk along trails of solidified lava and volcanic ash, crossing terrains that tell the geological story of the archipelago.
Along the way, we learn about the eruptions that shaped what is now the Timanfaya National Park, and how the island’s population endured six long years of volcanic activity. We visit the impressive crater of El Cuervo volcano, a site full of energy and beauty, and continue our journey by exploring other nearby volcanic cones.
In daylight, the intensity of the landscape’s colors comes to life: the deep black of basalt, the reddish hues of volcanic scoria, and the striking contrast with the blue sky. An unforgettable hiking experience to discover the volcanoes of Lanzarote from a close, authentic, and nature-conscious perspective.
