tailor-made
A small town that belongs to the municipality of Tías, in the south of Lanzarote.
Along with the areas of La Florida and Vega de Yuco, Masdache is considered the first area of vine cultivation in Lanzarote, and it is here that the oldest winery in the Canary Islands (and the fifth oldest in Spain) is located. The town was partly saved from the first historical eruptions that hit the south-west of Lanzarote, although we have visible remains of the destruction that the island suffered over six years.
The area of Masdache is characterized by the presence of immense lava flows from the historical eruptions that give shape to caves and "jameos" of incomparable beauty. A part of its territory is included within the limits of the Volcanoes Natural Park and La Geria.
The two most peculiar landscapes of Lanzarote - vineyards and volcanoes - merge in this environment in perfect symbiosis and creating a harmony that transmits peace and tranquility.
Walk and Wine Tasting along the Trails of Masdache
This route is designed for guests of Hotel Finca La Florida, but is also available to external visitors upon request.
We set off from the hotel and walk through the volcanic landscapes of La Florida and Masdache, crossing ancient vineyards and fields of ash.
Along the way, we explore the history of viticulture in Lanzarote, the origins of its first vineyards, native grape varieties, and the impact of past eruptions on the land.
Back at the hotel, we finish with a guided tasting of three local wines — a perfect way to end this walk through nature, history, and flavour.
