This circular route explores the rural surroundings of Guinate, in northern Lanzarote, to interpret the relationship between water, agriculture and landscape in one of the island’s most distinctive territories.
During the walk, we will cross the valley of Guinate, passing through cultivated areas, volcanic sand fields, agricultural terraces and traditional structures linked to the use of water. Through the landscape, we can understand how the scarcity of water resources has shaped agricultural life and the ways of working the land in this part of the Famara Massif.
One of the most significant points along the route is the Fuentes de Gayo, a place closely connected to local memory, where people once came to collect water for their fields. This element helps us better understand the importance of water in the rural history of Lanzarote.
The route also allows us to read the territory through its geological origin. Guinate is located in an area shaped by the Famara Massif and by the proximity of volcanoes such as La Corona and Los Helechos, whose eruptions helped form the landscape of the island’s north.
An experience designed for those who want to discover Lanzarote through its agricultural landscape, rural memory and the deep relationship between land, water and local life.
