Salt-making history, local tradition and wine by the Atlantic
This guided walk takes place in the Janubio area, one of Lanzarote’s most unique cultural landscapes.
We’ll explore its volcanic origins and how the combination of wind, water, and human ingenuity gave rise to a traditional salt-making system that played a key role in the island’s economy for centuries.
We walk at a calm pace between salt flats, volcanic rock and the ever-present Atlantic, learning how this area has been lived in, worked, and preserved, now recognised as a Site of Scientific Interest.
The experience ends with a tasting of two local wines, paired with a small selection of products from the surrounding area — a delicious way to savour the landscape.
