Wine experiences
La Geria is the vineyard area par excellence of Lanzarote, although not the only one. It is located in the south-east of the island, between the municipalities of Yaiza and Tías.
Before the eighteenth-century eruptions, La Geria was one of the most fertile areas of the island, where cereal crops abounded. Today it is a protected landscape for its beauty and here, the effort of the peasants is rewarded by wines of recognized quality.
La Geria is characterized by alandscape made of vine crops that grow at the bottom of some holes, surrounded by semicircular stone walls that serve to protect the vines from the trade winds.
Walking through La Geria is a way to understand one of Lanzarote’s most unique landscapes. This experience combines a guided walk through volcanic vineyards with a visit and wine tasting at Bodegas Rubicón, connecting what you see in the landscape with what you later taste in the glass.
During the walk, you will learn how the eruptions of Timanfaya, volcanic ash, wind and water scarcity gave rise to a unique way of growing vines. We will walk among hoyos, zocos and traditional vineyards to understand how the territory has shaped agricultural work and the character of Lanzarote’s wines.
The experience ends at Bodegas Rubicón, with a visit to its old wine press and a tasting of local wines. It is designed for those who want to discover La Geria at a slow pace, with context and a deeper understanding of the connection between wine, landscape and rural culture.

This experience combines a simple visit to the area around the Monumento al Campesino with a guided tasting of Canarian red wine paired with artisan chocolate made in Tenerife.
During the walk, we will interpret the relationship between agriculture, territory and rural culture in Lanzarote. The Monumento al Campesino, designed by César Manrique, offers an introduction to the role of farm work and the island’s agricultural identity.
Through the walk, we will explain how the landscape, traditional practices and vine growing are part of the same story. This introduction helps you better understand the context of wine in the Canary Islands and its connection with the territory.
The experience continues at the Casa del Vino Canario, with a guided tasting of Canarian red wine paired with artisan chocolate. A calm and sensory proposal to discover wine through landscape, local culture and flavour.
